So Far was created for presentation in sex offender treatment settings. It examines the experiences of a series of men who commit a range of offences against children.
It addresses themes such as the offence cycle, minimisation, cognitive distortions, fantasy and the effect of abuse on victims. The action of the play mirrors the process of groupwork, as well as the process of change, by focusing on a central character who is gradually confronted with the reality of the offences he has committed.
Through discussion and debate with this character, the audience members are encouraged to make their own links with the material and to share their own suggestions about how the process of change might be encouraged.
