Prisons

A continually developing portfolio of performances and projects designed to explore key issues, including attitudes, thinking and behaviour, children and families, substance misuse, employability and resettlement.

A Geese performance is designed to challenge, to provoke discussion and debate and to raise awareness with regards to specific issues. Many of our performances are frameworks within which we improvise and have built in strategies that make interaction with audiences possible. These structures enable us to be responsive to an audience and allows them to shape the outcome of scenes and the plays’ conclusions.

Benefits of a Geese performance:

  • It provides a lively, engaging, motivational and educational forum for the exploration of key issues, problems and challenges
  • A performance can mirror behaviours - audiences are invited to observe behaviours and situations that may be familiar and have an opportunity to witness the impact of particular behaviours on other people
  • It can enhance individual's motivation to engage with other areas of the regime
  • A performance can reach a large number of people
  • It is accessible to all, regardless of literacy levels
  • It generates a positive atmosphere within an institution
  • A performance offers people a positive experience of the arts

Some of our projects are complete programmes of work and others are designed to form part of longer term interventions already being delivered in an establishment.
