We returned to Broadmoor in April to work with patients from the Personality Disorder and Mental Illness wards.
We were commissioned to explore the issues patients may encounter on the wards with each other and with staff, but also to get them engaged in activities they may not usually participate in as a group. The sessions were held within occupational health. They were received very well and those involved took part in various games and exercises as well as creating some pieces of theatre which they then performed to each other and members of staff. We were also invited to go onto several wards and work with patients that were not able to come to the sessions as they had more severe mental health problems. All patients responded well to the work and the way we interacted with them, they seemed pleased to share their experience and challenges with us and came away with a real sense of achievement, whatever level of work they participated in.
