At The End Of Life

a performance for healthcare professionals exploring end of life and palliative care

All work

At The End Of Life is a training performance for healthcare professionals exploring some of the challenges in end of life and palliative care.

Two Geese practitioners, Liz and Emma, perform Conflict Zone in half masks

Developed in close consultation with Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, At The End of Life, is an interactive training performance for healthcare staff which explores:

– the ongoing and unrecognised burden of being a family carer

– the importance of empathic communication

– trauma responses and how they may be (mis)interpreted

– systemic pressures on staff.

Delivered in Geese’s unique, interactive style, At The End Of Life is designed to provoke discussion and debate amongst delegates about what constitutes effective, ethical and compassionate end of life care.

As with most Geese performances, At The End Of Life can be delivered as a stand-alone performance or can be integrated into a wider conference agenda. It can be tailored to specific audiences of healthcare professionals and the themes can be designed to reflect particular themes or issues relevant to particular local areas.

  • Great, convincing performances. Helped to consider other people’s perspectives and to think about how to approach patients, carers and families.

  • Beautifully performed.

  • Absolutely exceptional. The actors were able to emote and replicate situations of people working in the community. The skills of the actors really shone through and they were able to evoke real emotion which I haven’t experienced watching performances of a similar topic. Honestly, one of the best performances I’ve seen in a training session. I feel this is a really effective way to communicate themes and messages.
