Geese interviewed on BBC CWR

as part of World Theatre Day celebrations

All news

On Saturday 27th March, as part of World Theatre Day celebrations, we were invited to be interviewed by JD on BBC CWR’s breakfast show. JD and his team were interested in exploring the world of theatre that exists in the margins and were fascinated by our work in prisons, with people who have experienced addiction and with those who have experiences of homelessness.

John (left) first met Geese Theatre Company when he was homeless and receiving support from SIFA Fireside. Our project, ACT NOW, has been running at SIFA for the last three years thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

“There was a part of me at first, when I heard about Geese Theatre, thought ‘I’m living in a tent, I’ve got bigger problems’ but then I thought it could be a really good opportunity and it has been. You might not think that doing theatre when you are in that situation would do any good but after doing it, it is vital. It’s life-changing, it really is…”

John was joined by one of Geese’s Senior Practitioners, and project lead for ACT NOW, Dave (right). Together they chat about John’s experiences of working alongside Geese, the importance of projects like these in developing a sense of agency, and the broader work of Geese Theatre Company.
