Staging Recovery is a community project for people in recovery. From its inception in 2015, the Staging Recovery ensemble has developed into a group of highly creative and supportive individuals, coming together to co-create performances with Geese Theatre Company practitioners, leading on theme, story, script and direction. The ensemble have created a short film over 4 days that will go live on the Geese Website/YouTube channel on the 31st of August 2026 to mark International Overdose Awareness Day.
This film explores the journey of addiction, overdose, recovery and support through poetry, movement and images that came to life from stimuli the group shared in our sessions together. We wanted to bear witness to those that have been lost, to those struggling and to those still standing, to shed light on a problem that has not gone away.
