At Geese Theatre Company, no two weeks are ever the same. Our work spans prisons, community settings, and professional training environments, using theatre to provoke conversations, develop insight and create meaningful change. To give you a sense of the variety and impact of the role, here’s what October 2025 looked like for one of our team members:
Prison-Based Projects
– Led a week-long project in a prison near Wolverhampton with men serving long-term sentences.
– Facilitated an input in an East Midlands prison for men with histories of substance misuse.
– Co-delivered a week-long project in an inner London prison working with men at risk of suicide and self-harm.
Community-Based Projects
Facilitated the next 12-week project with our Staging Recovery Ensemble—a group of people in recovery from substance misuse who come together three times a year with Geese practitioners to devise and perform their own theatre pieces. These projects celebrate creativity and resilience, and challenge the perceived notions of who gets to tell their stories on our stages.
Training & Professional Development
– Rehearsed and performed in a domestic abuse production for staff and volunteers from a child contact centre.
– Delivered a performance exploring the challenges of home visits for social work staff.
– Created a production for teaching staff about the educational experiences of children who are looked after.
– Provided staff training for a team working with men who have convictions for sexual offending.
– Delivered training for MA Social Work students.
This diversity is what makes working with Geese Theatre Company so rewarding. Every project is designed to challenge perspectives, build empathy, and support positive change.
