We are currently looking for male Actor/ Groupworkers to become involved in all our performance, workshop and groupwork programmes.  This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidates to join our team of theatre professionals.  The company provides 6 months training and a starting salary in the region of £20,500.

In the summer of 2013 Geese were the workshop delivery partner on a NOMS funded initiative entitled Write to be Heard. The objectives of the project were to encourage hard-to-reach offenders to engage with education and arts opportunities in prisons and the project had a number of key strands, including a writing competition, programmes broadcast on the National Prison Radio network, and a series of 28 workshops, in 28 prisons, which were co-delivered by Geese working alongside 10 writers knew to working in prison environments. The project was evaluated by the Institute of Education and the final report has just been published. Download a pdf of the report here.

Sometimes... I wonder what I'm doing in prison education. Today's event reminded me... If there were ever evidence of the method of delivery for engagement and learning: it was provided today.

So many projects happening over the next couple of weeks, including: 

• a performance for Staffordshire and West Midlands Probation Trust, at the mac in Birmingham. Commissioned to explore a historical perspective on the role of Probation and provide an opportunity for staff, partners and stakeholders to look forward.

• a training event for Family Law Judges around dealing with vulnerable witnesses

• the second of our joint training events delivered with the Arts Alliance sharing some of the practice from the recent Write to be Heard creative writing in prisons project. The event in London this week was well received, with one participant tweeting "Fantastic day - learnt loads."

• a conference performance for CAFCASS

• another residency with our friends Brathay Trust, combining outdoor activity and theatre when working with Looked After Children

• the continuation of a creative project on the drug recovery unit at HMP Hewell

• a day-long session for students of Applied and Community Theatre at Leeds University

• a creative consultation with staff and students at The Retreat, a specialist mental health care provider for people with complex and challenging needs.

• the continuation of our project Forward, working in partnership with Anawim Women's Centre

• a session for women on orders with Wolverhampton Probation. 

• oh yes - and the small matter of an Arts Council NPO application!
