(Dis)Engaged

(Dis) Engaged is an interactive performance aimed at professionals in both the voluntary and statutory sectors who conduct outreach work with clients. It explores issues around working with resistant clients, using the dramatic action to generate discussion amongst the audience.

(Dis) Engaged explores different manifestations of resistance, including hostility and obsequiousness, and encourages the audience to consider practical ways of dealing with this. It also highlights some of the reasons that my underlie a person's resistance, challenging people's perceptions of particular behaviours, such as aggression.

In addition, (Dis) Engaged looks at potential consequences for both professionals and the clients if resistance is not dealt with effectively, with particular focus on safeguarding children at risk
